How to Set Up Distance-Based Delivery Fees in Rentopian
Rentopian allows you to automatically calculate delivery fees based on distance using either a simple or advanced setup. This is ideal for businesses looking to charge flat rates within a specific range and variable rates beyond that based on mileage, order total, or both.
Accessing Delivery Fee Settings
Navigate to Settings > Delivery Fees / Options.
In the Type section, select By Distance.
Simple Distance-Based Setup
The Simple option lets you define a flat rate within a set mileage and a per-mile rate beyond that. Example:
Flat rate: $150 for the first 10 miles
Additional miles: $3 per mile
For round-trip charges, simply double the per-mile rate (e.g., $6 per mile).
Advanced Distance-Based Setup
The Advanced option allows more granular control using tiers. You can base delivery fees on:
Distance only: Set mileage tiers with different per-mile rates. Example:
0–120 miles = $2 per mile
121–999 miles = $5 per mile
Order Total only: Base per-mile cost on total order value. Example:
$0–$1,500 = $3 per mile
$1,501+ = $2 per mile
Distance + Order Total: Combine both to create detailed rules. Example:
0–50 miles & $0–$2,000 = $3/mile
51–999 miles & $0–$2,000 = $5/mile
Google Distance API Key
To use distance-based delivery fees, you must provide a Google Distance API Key. This allows Rentopian to calculate the exact mileage between your warehouse and the delivery location.
