Tax By Payment Report

See tax tied to the payments you received in a period, with filters and built-in exclusions.

Written by Hrant Minasyan

The Tax By Payment report calculates the tax associated with the payments you actually received in a period — useful if you report tax on a cash basis (when money comes in) rather than when the order is created.

Where to Find It

Reports → Tax Reports → Tax By Payment

What This Report Shows

  • Payment date and amount paid

  • Order number, type, status, and client

  • Each tax type with its rate, amount, title, and agency

Filters You Can Apply

  • Date range — based on the payment date. A single report can cover up to about 13 months at a time; to review a longer span, run consecutive ranges and combine the exported files in Excel.

  • Tax rate, order type, and order status

  • Include non-taxed orders and break down grouped taxes — optional toggles

  • Location — if your company has more than one location, you can limit results to specific locations. (Single-location accounts won't see this filter.)

⚠️ What This Report Already Filters Out

Note what this report leaves out automatically:

  • Only completed (charged) payments are counted. Pending or failed payments are excluded.

  • Store-credit payments are not included.

  • Only taxed orders appear unless you turn on "include non-taxed orders."

  • Order templates and deleted orders are excluded.

Exporting

You can export the report to Excel, CSV, or PDF. Larger reports are generated in the background — you'll be notified when the file is ready to download.
