Commissions Report

Track attributed revenue and commission per salesperson, with configurable rates, goals, and pace tracking, plus filters and built-in exclusions.

Written by Hrant Minasyan

The Commissions report shows each salesperson's attributed revenue by revenue type, the commission earned on it, and their progress toward goal for the selected period — including a company-wide total tracked against your company goal.

Where to Find It

Reports → Financial Reports → Commissions

Commission settings live under Reports → Report Settings → Commissions, or via the Commission Settings link on the report page. The report and its settings are controlled by separate permissions, so you decide who can view results and who can change rates and goals.

Setting It Up

Before running the report for the first time, configure three things in Commission Settings under Settings -> Reports -> Commissions section:

  • Salespeople — toggle on each user who earns commission. Only active users appear in the list. Flagged salespeople show up in the report; if you later unflag someone, their rows are hidden from the report, including past periods.

  • Commission Structure — choose how revenue is attributed and how commission is calculated:

    • Attribute Commissions By — credit each transaction to its Sales Person or to its Managed By user, whichever matches how your team works.

    • Commission BasisBooked revenue applies rates to transaction totals; Collected payments applies rates only to the paid share of each invoice, so quotes and unpaid transactions contribute nothing and partial payments count proportionally.

    • Rates — set a default percentage per revenue type: Rental Subtotal, Sale Subtotal, Service Subtotal, Delivery Fee, and Fee Amount. Set a type to 0 to exclude it. You can also override any rate per salesperson — blank cells inherit the company default.

  • Goals — pick a goal period (Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly), set a Company Goal, and optionally an individual goal per salesperson. Goals scale automatically to the date range you run: a $40,000 monthly goal over a two-month range becomes an $80,000 target.

What This Report Shows

  • One row per salesperson with revenue by type (Rental, Sale, and Service Subtotals, Delivery Fee, Fee Amount), total Attributed Revenue, and the Commission earned per your rates

  • Goal and Progress — a progress bar with a pace marker showing where each salesperson should be by today if revenue accrued evenly across the period

  • StatusExceeded (at or above 100% of goal), On track (at or ahead of pace), Behind (under pace), At risk (well under pace), or No goal

  • Company Total — a bottom row summing all salespeople, tracked against your company goal

The legend above the table shows the measurement date and how much of the period has elapsed — that percentage is exactly where the dark pace marker sits on every progress bar.

Individual Salesperson Report

Click the eye icon on any row to open that salesperson's individual report: attributed revenue, commission earned, goal attainment, pace (ahead or behind and by how much), a commission breakdown by revenue type, and the full list of contributing transactions with links to each one. Each salesperson's report reflects their own rates and goal, including any overrides.

Filters You Can Apply

  • Date range — the period you want to review

  • Date Range For — match transactions by their Creation Date, Start Date, or Event Date

  • Transaction Type — Quotes, Orders, or both

  • Transaction Status — Created, Rented Out, Returned, Cancelled, or Delinquent

  • Sales Person / Managed By — limit the report to specific salespeople

  • Location — if your company has more than one location, you can limit results to specific locations. (Single-location accounts won't see this filter.)

⚠️ What This Report Already Filters Out

Note how this report behaves:

  • Deleted transactions and templates are always excluded.

  • Only flagged salespeople appear. If no one is flagged yet, the report shows a notice pointing you to Commission Settings.

  • With the Collected payments basis, quotes and unpaid transactions contribute $0, and partially paid invoices count proportionally.

  • Users with the "Restrict on Managed By" permission see only their own results — the salesperson filter, Company Total row, and company goal are hidden from them.

Exporting

You can export the report to Excel, CSV, or PDF. Larger reports are generated in the background — you'll be notified when the file is ready to download.
