There are many ways to discount costs for your clients. One way is to discount specific products in an order. On the transaction creation screen (or the transaction edit screen), the products you've added to the order will appear under the Order Details section. Next to the price of each product is a yellow coupon icon.
When you click on the coupon icon, an Apply Discount window will pop up where you will choose your Discount Type and Discount. You'll have the option of ABS, $, and %.
ABS is the option for a discount to a specific amount. For example if you want to discount at product priced at $10 to $6, you can choose ABS and enter 6.
The $ option will discount by a dollar amount. To use the dollar option to discount your $10 product to $6, you'll enter $4 in the Discount field.
A % discount will discount the product by a percentage. When using the percentage discount you would enter 40 in the Discount field to discount a $10 product to $6.
Once you have chosen your Discount Type and entered your Discount, you'll click the green Confirm button to apply the discount to your product. Or, click the red Cancel button to cancel.
After you apply your discount, you'll see the discount applied to the product under the Order Details section. The regular product price will be marked out with a line and the discounted price show next to it.
In addition to discounting a product using the coupon icon, you can also edit the price directly.
Note: Editing the price directly will not show the discount, nor will it change the global price of the product.
To edit the price, under the Order Details section, you'll click on the product price which will activate the option to edit the price.
From here, you'll enter the price you would like to set for the product for this specific order. You can use the up and down arrow to increase or decrease the price, or you can type in a specific price. This will not change the default price of the product and will not affect other orders. Once you have set the price, you can click the Enter key on your keyboard (or Return on Mac) or simply click anywhere else on the screen to deactivate the price editing function.
Note: If a product price has been locked, this will not be an option.
The price will now be reflected on the product but it will not show the edit the way the discount through the coupon option does.
