Bulk Updating Inventory Quantity, Rental Price, or Sale Price

Rentopian allows you to update three key fields (Quantity, Rental Price, and Sale Price) in bulk via a data import. This guide walks you through downloading a template, adjusting your inventory data, and importing changes back into Rentopian.

1. Download the Update Template

  1. Go to Settings > Import Data: In Rentopian’s main menu, navigate to Settings > Import Data.

  2. Select “Product Update”: Click the Download Template button to get a file listing your products by ID, SKU, Name, Quantity, Rental Price, and Sale Price.

  3. Note the Required Fields: Each product row includes an ID, which is crucial for matching your updates to the correct items.

2. (Optional) Export Inventory with Details

If you need more info (e.g., product category) to filter or locate specific items:

  1. Inventory List: Go to Inventory > List Items and click Export with Details.

  2. Filter & Edit: Use Excel filters to narrow down items (by category, etc.). Copy relevant rows into the Product Update template or adjust your approach accordingly.

3. Modify the File

  1. Open the Product Update Template: Update Quantity, Rental Price, or Sale Price as needed (e.g., increasing all rental prices by 10%).

  2. Formulas or Manual Edits: You can use Excel formulas to calculate new values. Then, Paste as Values to remove the formulas.

  3. Save Your Changes: Keep the ID column intact, as it identifies each product.

4. Upload the Updated File

  1. Return to Settings > Import Data: Choose Product Update again, then click Upload File.

  2. Map Fields: Match the template columns (e.g., ID, Rental Price) to Rentopian’s fields. (You can skip fields you’re not updating.)

  3. Proceed with Import: Click Proceed. Rentopian will process the file in the background.

5. Check Import History

After starting the import, navigate to Data Import > Import History to monitor the progress. You’ll see if any rows failed to import and can review the final results once the process completes.
