Rentopian lets you create product sets that include both required and optional items, grouped however you need. Follow these steps to build and customize a set.

1. Add Components to Your Set

  • When adding products to the set, you can define:

    • Required: These items must be included in every order.

    • Optional: Customers can choose whether or not to include them.

    • Separate Price: Optional items can have individual pricing outside the set price.

    • Hide on Website: Controls visibility online.

  • Set quantities, prices, and group names (e.g., Side Walls, Lights, Climate Control).

2. Customize Set Details

  • After adding the components, scroll to the Set Details section.

  • Add a title, image, category, and if you use them a SKU.

  • Set a flat rental price (e.g., $2,500), which includes required components only or select Total is Calculated Based on Set's Items Prices to have your set total price calculated based on the pricing of the components (excluding those marked Separate Price).

3. Control Visibility

  • You can:

    • Hide individual components from quote/order prints by marking them Hide on Print on the product's information.

    • Mark items as Add-On Only and One Per Transaction to avoid duplication (especially for tools).

    • Choose to show or hide set items on the website or customer documents when creating the set.

      • Note: If optional items should be shown, do not mark the set as Do not show set details on quotes/orders print.

      • If items should NOT be shown on the Picking Slip and Packing List, you can mark Do not print set contents on picking and packing lists.

5. Add Attachments or Upsells (Optional)

  • You can include documents or upsell items when creating the set.

6. Set Availability and Adding to Orders

  • Set availability is based on your inventory for each required component.

  • Add the set to a transaction—components marked as required will be included automatically and cannot be removed.

  • Click the orange clipboard to view and add optional items grouped by category.

    • Quantities will default to what you set, but can be edited (e.g., change from 4 fans to 2).

    • Click Choose Selected to add them to the transaction.

7. Final View for Customers

  • For a preview of how sets with optional items and separate prices display to customers, check out the video above.
