How to Block Inventory for Specific Dates

Learn how to block all or specific inventory for set dates and prevent those items from being available on new transactions.

Written by Jessica Festa

The Blocked Items feature lets you make all or specific inventory unavailable for a set period of time.

This can be helpful when your business is closed, you are completing a company-wide inventory count, or specific products need to be unavailable for maintenance.

Open Blocked Items

To manage your blocked inventory:

  1. Go to Inventory in the main navigation.

  2. Click Blocked Items.

  3. Click Add Inventory to create a new block.

Choose the Dates and Times

Enter the period when the inventory should be unavailable.

You will select:

  • Start date

  • Start time

  • End date

  • End time

Next, choose whether you want to block All Inventory Items or Specific Inventory Items.

Block All Inventory Items

Choose All Inventory Items when your entire inventory should be unavailable during the selected dates and times.

For example, you may want to block all inventory when:

  • Your business is closed for a holiday.

  • You cannot accept orders during a certain period.

  • Your team is completing a full inventory count.

Example: If your business will be closed for July 4th and you do not want any rentals scheduled for that date, you can block all inventory for that period.

Block Specific Inventory Items

Choose Specific Inventory Items when only certain products need to be unavailable.

This can be useful for planned maintenance that is not related to damage from an existing order.

Instead of making all of your inventory unavailable, you can block only the items that should not be rented during that time.

How Blocked Items Affect Availability

Blocked inventory is treated as unavailable during the dates and times you selected.

If all inventory is blocked, creating a quote or order that overlaps the blocked period will show that there are no products available.

Inventory will still appear as available for rental periods that fall completely before or after the blocked period.

Important: A transaction does not have to start on the blocked date to be affected. If its rental period overlaps the blocked dates or times, the blocked inventory will be unavailable.
