Creating Products with Variants
The above video will introduce the concept of product variants and will detail the process of creating and managing these variants.
Product variants are combinations of all different attributes (options) of a product. The system creates a combination of all the attributes (options) you assigned to the product thus creating variants for the product.
For example, if your product – a tablecloth, comes in two different sizes (55”x70’’ and 55’’x80’’) and two different colors (blue and red) our system will generate 4 variants of this product:
A tablecloth – size 55”x70’’; color – blue
A tablecloth – size 55”x70’’; color – red
A tablecloth – size 55’’x80’’; color – blue
A tablecloth – size 55’’x80’’; color – red
Using product variants can make it very easy to manage products that have many different colors, sizes or any other options.
Having products broken down to variants instead of separating each product option into different variants will also help achieve better usability of add-ons and sets.
For example, an Accent pillow that has comes in multiple colors can be easily tied to a Sofa product so that a user can select which specific color to add to an order for the accent pillows, instead of having to add all and remove ones that are not needed.
